Chef Vita: The Connoisseur of Vitality

Cooking is an integral part of life. Everybody has had a chef moment when they get a little creative. When you think you’re a chef for sprinkling some parsley over your mac n’ cheese or making a sauce you probably won’t remember the recipe to recreate, Chef Vita would put us all to shame. Born in St. Ann but raised in Trelawny, Kingston and St. Ann, Oshane Warren started his journey with food early.

Spending a lot of his life in Brampton Trelawny, Vita was privy to many different lifestyles. Seeing the ships passing as a child lit the fire in him to become a chef.He recalls the first meal he made was curried chicken and white rice. A Jamaican staple and the opposite of his current vegan cuisine. It was his start nonetheless. Chef Vita learned about vegan food from his friend Jah Vita, while attending the classes he held at his house. Learning to prepare meals the Rastafarian way.

Preparing food is Chef Vita’s passion. He loves the different combinations he can come up with and the reactions of people trying his food. The different foods he creates is his way of expression and he tries to inspire others through the meals he prepares. Plus the different vegan and raw dishes he comes up with are insane.  He always finds ways to use vegetables, nuts, seeds and fruit to make something incredible. Chef Vita’s vegan diet makes preparing his food much easier since he’s he himself is accustomed to the plant-based lifestyle.

Chef Vita has come a far way. He started out not being paid for the work he did but the money wasn’t what motivated him. Vita just enjoyed doing what he loved which was feeding people and seeing people enjoy his food was its own reward. So, he started pushing his business by doing farmers markets and bring attention to his food through social media.  Now Vita has his business at a hotel, and he opened his Juice Bar earlier in July. He gets to meet a lot of new people and they get to try a lot of new interesting foods. Vita says the crowd favourites are the salads and the sushi roll, but he loves to make a mean pasta or some curried chickpeas.

Chef Vita Ital Is Vital

Vita believes people don’t fully understand the plant-based lifestyle, which accounts for a lot of negativity towards it. He thinks that the lifestyles we were born into, contributes to what we put in our bodies. Regardless of that, he believes that the Rastafari lifestyle is what is best for him and that others should try it. Vita is really serious when it comes to his health and along with his diet, his exercise is important. He always makes time for a morning run and some yoga later in the day.

Preparing food is Chef Vita’s calling and even though he has answered the call, it isn’t the only plan he has for himself. Vita’s artistic nature doesn’t only exist in the kitchen, so he plans to build a career for himself in music and venture off into farming. He thinks music and farming would be the best combination for him since music and food go together perfectly.

Chef Vita isn’t done showing us what he can do but it’s just a matter of time.
