Ximena Barboglio: Masterpieces and Messages
September 18, 2019
Some of us never find our passion, some do but never pursue it out of fear and some of us drop everything and pursue it ignoring all the odds against them. Ximena Barboglio is one who dropped everything to do what she loves. Born in the suburbs of Mexico, Ximena Barboglio was always a little different from the people she grew up around. Her views were different, how she spoke was different even her mindset was different. She had a hard time dealing with how different she was than everyone else. Even how she expressed herself was different and that’s where her art comes in.
Ximena Barboglio started painting after attending art classes at six and a switch flipped that lit her entire world up. Totally consumed by art and always working on pieces, trying to find her own style. Even though art was her first love, she decided to study psychology after a friend of hers passed tragically. Studying psychology was a whole different ball game for her. So, even though she loved her classes and was doing well; nothing beats your first love. Art was her calling so she decided to go to Parsons.

Art isn’t Ximena’s only creative knack, she loves fashion. She can’t really pinpoint when she first fell in love with fashion and designing, but she’s always been doing her own designs. Always sketching her ideas before she even turned ten. Fashion and art are like a language for Ximena Barboglio. They give her away to say what’s on her mind, it’s even how she communicates with herself. She takes her crafts very seriously; describing her style as a combination of surrealism and symbolism. Her creations always have a message and she’s interested in working with people like her who have something to say.

Her Little Heaven On Earth
Creating is a natural process for Ximena and she uses meditation to tune into it. She doesn’t force anything she lets her mind carry her, and her hands do the work. She’s always inspired to create because it’s her peace and just the act of painting gives her a piece nothing else can.
Even though her art plays a big role in her life, school does too. She splits her time focusing on school, work, assignments and sometimes her art gets left behind due to her busy schedule. Ximena tries her best to not abandon her art. So, even on her busy days, she always tries to end her day working on designs or her painting.

Ximena loves her work and because of the solace it gives her it makes creating much easier for her. However, she is still aware and going through the reality of how hard the art world is. Designing and painting isn’t the last stop in her creative process. Having to be her own seamstress and having to manage the sale of her own art among other things aren’t easy but she’s up for the task.
Ximena Barboglio maybe isn’t as well-known as those who inspire her like Alexander McQueen and Ann Demeulemeester but she’s making her own name and she’s doing it in her own way. She has a lot to say and a lot to show the world and her art is going to help her do it. Whether it’s a painting or even a lingerie piece you see from Ximena Barboglio, you will see her.
